The innovation center was established in 2008, under the directions of the university rector Professor Abdullah Al-Othman and the auspices of the procuration of the university for knowledge exchange and technology transfer, in order to achieve global leadership and effective role for the kingdom in building and developing communities. Based on the generous guidance and the tremendous efforts, we thank Allah that the IC is still in continuous evolution, where it began with establishing  innovation competitions to encourage the innovators from inside and outside the university and honor them.

After that, the IC began to communicate with the scientific societies and leading universities to sign cooperation agreements in the field of innovation such as the University of California at Berkeley, USA. These agreements aim to take advantage of the experiences of others in the area of development, marketing and implementation of the innovation, in addition to the dissemination of the innovation culture.

The pace of the development was continued by the establishment of a Website aimed to serve all sectors of the society through the presentation of their proposals and ideas, and the work to support and develop them. The establishment of the innovation center club has been finished on an area of more than 300 square meters which is equipped with up-to-date equipment to serve more than five thousands students in the students housing and the rest of the students in order to promote what the university transcends about the existence of a global scientific and qualified team to compete in the innovation competitions around the world.

In addition, work is under way to establish a specialized club in robotics to attract those interested in this field, and to refine their talents in dealing with this modern technology and to develop their skills and ideas.

Besides, the management of the center, supported by the procuration of the university for knowledge exchange and technology transfer, has succeeded to attract professor Mohamed Kamel from the electrical and computer engineering at the University of Waterloo, Canada,  to work as a consultant for the Center according to his wide and diverse experience and achievements in the areas of innovation and technology.

Special forms have been prepared to facilitate the communication process with innovators in order to enable them to present their ideas and researches, and to join the database of those who are interested in innovation.

Vision:
To become the national focal center for inspiration, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
